My Furry Family

My lifelong friends. Some are scattered on my bookshelves and others scattered around the world, but they are always in my heart.

A little bit about my choice to shoot photos in my mom's vegetable garden...The greenery surrounding each creation are clusters of sesame leaves, a staple in South Korean cooking and surprisingly similar to my lifelong friends: just like sesame leaves are used in an array of dishes like banchan (side dishes) or ssam (wrapped around meat), my crocheted creations are used in a wide variety of causes like in humanitarian work and children's stories. I hope that just as sesame leaves elevate the flavor of every dish they are added to, so too my work can improve the atmosphere of every home they go to. Furthermore, I wanted each photo to contain the leaves as a nod to my culture: an homage to the country that birthed my ten year crocheting career. None of my work would exist if I hadn't picked up a crochet hook one summer in Seoul. Finally, these sesame leaves are just the perfect shade of green for these photos, don't you think?
