Humanitarian Dental Relief Program in Kenya
with Hyodo Family Organization
When I heard that the children my dentist treated voluntarily in Kenya made tape soccer balls to play with due to a lack of toys, I was moved to come up with an idea. Remembering how thrilling it was to receive a prize after a trip to the dentist's, I decided to crochet tooth fairies, teddy bears, bumblebees, and other cute critters for the children so that they could feel that same delight after their dentist visits. Since freshman year, I've crocheted cuddly creatures for children- many of them orphans- at Dr. Hyodo's dental camps and clinics in Kenya.
I hope to go to Kenya someday and deliver my cuddly creatures in-person, to witness the beautiful smiles of these children.
A huge thanks to the Hyodo Family Organization for the photos!
Some children at the clinic in Tharaka Nithi befriend my cuddly creatures.

The cozy critters pose for a quick group photo in my backyard before arriving in Mathare, Nairobi.
